Book Review: All that Jazz

After a long break and a nice vacation, I want you today to present a book. All that Jazz is a fun and interesting book on the history of jazz. Me as a "starter" has it really helped to understand the context and chronology and trace the development from its beginnings in the southern United States in the 19th century to the present. The book is written in my opinion, very refreshing. A few biographies of the legends of jazz will be described in great detail and going deep, in others I would have liked more depth, however. There are everywhere in the book numerous references to additional literature, biographies, etc. I really feel like getting there, once or even to read one other biography which, of course, the priority of saxophonists, such as Stan Getz. In the appendix there is a very detailed way people register, literature and recommendations for the various epochs and Hörempfehlungen. All in all, really worth reading.

A history of jazz from its origins in the folklore of black Americans and in the pleasure quarters of New Orleans, on the major swing big bands to jazz to rock and other varieties of jazz in the 80s and 90s. Michael Jacobs presentation informed about the different styles and methods of play, the life stories of famous musicians and legendary recordings and performances. Many anecdotes and several pictures to loosen the band.
